Sorry I haven't posted in a few months, but it's been crazy around here. I finished my first year of University! YAAAAY. *claps*claps* thank you, thank you. But we also have been renovating our house. So, "moving home" for the Summer means that Cate is living in a different town in a rental house. Don't get me wrong it's super cute, and perfect for my mom, coco, and me, but I do miss our home! We had to redo everything, and let me tell you, I mean EVERYTHING. Our house was ripped down to the studs and we are starting over. Pretty crazy, but it'll be worth it when it's all finished.
Anywhooo, back to the whole first year thing. Lets start with that it FLEW by! It seemed like it was over before it even began. Things most definitely didn't finish like they started. There were so many things that changed since September, most for the good. It was hard to leave the Sault seeing as that was my life for the past 8 months, and was really hard to leave my friends, and my roomie. Luckily, most of my friends are fairly close to home and my roommate already has plans to come down and visit in a couple months! I was thinking about where I could take this post, and I think that I will go through highlights of my year. Always better to look at the positive things, right?
So, here we go!
Highlights of Cate's First Year of University:
1. Frosh Week
Ok, Frosh Week at Algoma certainly isn't as cool as Frosh week everywhere else because the school is so small. But, it was a great way to meet some new people, and that's actually where I met one of my best friends! I volunteered to be a Frosh leader for next year and I'm already super excited!
2. My 18th Birthday!
This was my first birthday that was not spent with my parents! It was weird because I was in a new place and didn't really know anyone. But, my roommate and her amazing parents made sure that I had a great birthday! Mom sent me cupcakes, and my friends sent me all the way up North with my birthday gifts!
3. Moving into Residence
As many of you will know I didn't get to move straight into res when I moved up to the Sault, I had to move into a hotel for a few weeks. Moving into res was GREAT! It allowed me to get anywhere on campus in under a minute (literally). I finally got to unpack all of my stuff, and make a little home for myself. PS It didn't stay this clean for long... trust me.
Yes, this is my room. But my lovely roommate lived in my room...
4. Getting Over My Fear of Flying
OMGSH! It's true! Let me tell you, I've been on 22 planes since October, and I'm not even kidding. After the first 4 I finally got over my fear. I actually know most of the flight attendants through Porter now, and they know me as well! It's kind of weird but awesome at the same time. All of the people at the airport always talk to me about school, and how my last trip home was because they recognize me also.
5. The Snow.
Ok, ok, most of you are probably like 'That was a highlight?!'. Yes, it was. It was different to be in a place where there is almost always snow and it makes everything look more beautiful. My fall count was at about 8, and there was always someone there to witness it. You all probably would have laughed at me cause I had to laugh at my self quite often.
6. PARIS!
I know that this isn't something involving University, but I thought that it would be important to mention since it did happen this year. Paris was amazing and beautiful. You should read my Paris post if you want to find out more!
7. Concert with Harm!
I bought Harm tickets to go and see Marianas Trench because her favourite band, Down With Webster, was opening for them. Now, let me tell you this concert was AWESOME! We were on the floor and we were in the third row. None of my pictures were zoomed at all. It was honestly awesome Josh Ramsay was literally on top of me and Harm touched is butt. LOL. But actually. I almost died. We got VIP tickets meaning that we also got to meet Marianas Trench and we waited around after the show to meet Down With Webster. It was honestly a fantastic concert!
8. My Friends
Ok, I know this is corny. But my year wouldn't have been as awesome without all of my friends. Some new, and some that I have had since September. Each one of them made my year better in their own way. Late night heart-to-hearts, pointless adventures, ice cream cakes, cappelletti, and pizza wouldn't have been the same without these girls. Late nights, and movie nights also wouldn't have been the same without this great group of people. Res was one of the best experiences ever. So many of the people I lived with became like a family to me. ANYWHO. I honestly could go on forever, but I won't.
So this is just a few of the things that stood out this year. I hope you enjoy all of the pictures. Sorry that there are so many. But I wanted to let you guys see what my year was all about! I hope you all have a fantastic day, and I promise to blog more this Summer! You guys are amazing. You've gotten me to almost 15,000 views! I never would have expected this when I first started my blog. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!
Okey
TOODLES
Cate :)
